A joint-project with VTT was launched to benchmark and develop dynamic earthquake simulations in Finland. Simulations of an earthquake rupturing a fault and generating seismic waves with FLAC3D (RMCF) and Seisol (VTT) were run. The performance of the codes was benchmarked against the TPV5 exercise given by Harris and others (2009). The work is continued by dynamic simulations of more complex earthquakes and the effects of seismic waves on off-fault fractures within the SAFER2028 programme in 2023.
