Underground mine stability

Taivaljärvi mine 3D rock mechanics stability

Simulation of the overall stability of the mine with planned mining sequences

This study involved the simulation of the 3D rock mechanics stability of the  underground Taivaljärvi mine in Sotkamo, Finland. The primary aim of the analysis was to evaluate the amount and quality of input data and to provide suggestions for rock mechanics logging and measurements, study the overall stability using the planned mining sequences and indicate locations with stability risks. The stability was analysed using both 3D simulations and empirical stability graphs. Based on the analyses, we were able to identify potential yield locations and provide the client with a recommendation of support and suggestions for further detailed studies.
