Rock mass deformation estimates were provided for the purpose of sizing geotechnical instrumentation related to the rock mechanical characterisation of a planned copper mine at a depth of ca. 2 km. Mining is planned to be performed using panel caving and prefeasibility studies require ca. 1600 m of lateral development of an extensive characterisation level. RMCF performed numerical simulations of the rock mass response to the planned excavation sequence, with the goal of ultimately developing a predictive model applicable to future development.
